Recently I posted my road trip guide to Oxford and the Cotswolds (link here) and mentioned my stay at Keble College, Oxford. I wanted to post a separate piece to elaborate on it a little more and share more photos of this wonderful spot!
UniversityRooms.com offers visitors to Oxford the chance to see behind the scenes of real Oxford life, and stay in the colleges themselves, normally restricted. This is limited to holiday times, but during these periods select colleges turn themselves into Bed and Breakfasts offering both a comfortable and unique way to stay in Oxford. UniversityRooms isn't just limited to Oxford – it has rooms at Universities across the world too!
I chose Keble college which is a stunning neo-gothic style, red brick college built in 1870 arranged around 4 green quads. It has a picturesque chapel, Harry Potter-esque grand dining hall and library. It’s located near the centre of town, about a 5 minute walk from the Bodleian library and Ashmolean Museum, two of the key attractions of Oxford!
Rooms are single but spacious and have a decent ensuite. Breakfast is generous and is served in the most picturesque grand hall imaginable. It’s larger than the Christ Church Hall which normally gets all the press from its Harry Potter ties, and well worth a visit. Breakfast is, of course, the full english works, washed down with plenty of tea and coffee.
With rooms priced only at £65 a night for an ensuite, £42 for non, it’s an economic option and great value for what it offers. For an authentic Oxford experience…fully recommended.
